Tina Munim

Biography

Tina was born in a Gujerati-speaking family in Bombay on February 11, 1955. The Munim family used to live in Bhuleshwar.

Tina shot into fame during the year 1978 when she represented India at the International Teen Contest in Aruba. She won the Miss Photogenic and Miss Bikini awards.

Pretty, very photogenic, she was discovered by Dev Anand who cast her as his leading lady in Des Pardes. The film went on to become a blockbuster, making Tina a household name. Tina went on to act in over 30 Bollywood movies, spanning from 1978 through to 1992.

As her career was going nowhere fast, she re-located to California, then returned back home in 1991, got married to multi-millionaire industrialist, Anil Ambani, quit acting, re-located to Britain, where she gave birth to two sons, Anmol and Anshul.

Currently she is settled in Britain, and made news recently as one of the elite invitees to Abhishek's wedding with Aishwarya on April 20, 2007.

Farida Jalal

Biography

Jalal was married to actor Tabrez Barmavar who died in September 2003 and has a son named Yaseen.Farida Jalal started her career in the sixties, when she won the United Film Producers Talent Hunt sponsored by Filmfare: she almost never played the female lead, but the sister or the dumped fiancé of the male lead. One of her most critically acclaimed roles is in Bobby where she had the part of the mentally unstable fiancé of Rishi Kapoor's Raj. During the eighties, her roles changed from sister and girlfriend to aunt and mother, or, sometimes nanny. She acted for over forty years, only taking a break during 1983 and 1990, where she settled in Bangalore.During the nineties, Jalal had a part in almost every major hit, among them Raja Hindustani, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge for which she won a Filmfare Award as Best Supporting Actress. She also acted in many Television serials, particularly in hit sitcom Dekh Bahi dekh.In 2005, she co-hosted the 50th Filmfare Awards alongside Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Bendre, held in Mumbai. She is known for her bubbly, gregarious of most her characters, even when she's playing the mother or old woman, like in Shyam Benegal's Mammo.
